wendi -- i was soooo glad to see a post! this is jan, we emailed a couple of times. we just adopted phoebe from vietnam. got home january 22nd, her given birthdate. i just wanted to encourage you in that phoebe is doing amazingly well at age 4. did we miss out on a whole lot? absolutely and my heart yearns to know her past (she wasn't abandoned until age 3); but this was God's plan and i am okay with that. i cannot imagine the frustration and anguish, but i promise it will become a distant memory. we had the four-month extra wait due to the security guard at the orphanage issue which is nothing compared to what you have endured. i promise to pray today for God to give you an amazing blessing, in addition to an :), for your faithfulness. please keep posting soon as you know about travel. love you.

Happy Birthday An!

Wendi, I want you to know I'm thinking of you every day but every day must seem very long to you.

I hope you are planning on a slightly delayed birthday party in VN! Hoping and praying here that it happens soon!

Popping in from Elizabeth's blog... I don't keep up with the Holt forums anymore, so I didn't realize you were still waiting for your daughter.
I remember (though the pain has faded some) how torturous the wait for our son was. I remember feeling that he may never be ours, actually not believing it when we got various approvals - not really believing it until we were in VN signing papers. We waited exactly 1 year from referral to visa and I thought that was a horribly long time to wait. My heart aches at the thought that you have waited nearly twice that long. I am so thankful that your wait is nearly over.

Praying for An, that she will bond quickly to you and that these days apart will fade away with each day that you spend together.
